We solicit feedback from our guests through a Guest Feedback sheet which is left in the cabin. We ask what guests liked, what they didn’t like, whether anything was not working properly, and any suggestions for improvement. We also ask for a numerical rating from 1 to 5, with 1 being best.
Most guests complete a feedback sheet. So far in 2010, 92% have rated Blue Ridge Cozy Cabin a “1″. 8% rated it a “2″. If a guest gives us permission to do so, we post what they liked and their general comments on our web site.
Those items identified as not working properly we, of course, promptly remedy.
Of course, itmakes us feel good to read guests’positive comments. But it’s the areas which guests didn’t like and their suggestions for improvement which are especially helpful to us. We know we already provide great value but we are constantly looking to make improvements. Major improvements which were spurred by guests comments include a remodeled bathroom and air-conditioning. Smaller improvements include such things as plastic containers for storing leftovers, an electric griddle, and improved lighting.
We welcome comments on this blog from our guests. It’s free format and easy to use. Why not share your experiences at the cabin with others?

We love this annual barbecue festival. It’s June 11 and 12 at Harmon Field in nearby Tryon. With competitors from many states, the food is amazing. The festival is very well organized. Parking and shuttle services run very efficiently. There is ample room to wander around, visit the booths, or just relax and enjoy a good variety of live music.

Motorcycles are welcomed (and so are their riders). Western North Carolina is known for its great ride venues. The Blue Ridge Parkway is the nation’s longest national park and has spectacular views. This article from Motorcycle Cruiser gives more details. In addition, the state roads are in good condition and many are hilly and winding and have some wonderful vistas.
And Blue Ridge Cozy Cabin is on eight secluded acres. You have it all to yourself and don’t need to worry about disturbing others as you leave for your early morning ride.

The annual Celebrate Flat Rock day will be held this Saturday, June 5. It’s always a fun afternoon for the younger kids. They get free ice cream, face-painting, balloon-making, and fake tattoos.
For the adults there’s good live music, pottery making, a half-price day at the Book Exchange, and walking tours of the Carl Sandburg house. And at 8 PM, the NC State Theater at Flat Rock Playhouse presents Old Glory, a critically acclaimed musical.

Yesterday Dianne took our 9 year old granddaughter, Emilie, to the annual White Squirrel Festival in Brevard. They had a blast. Emilie came home with her face painted and all excited about the bouncy balls and inflatable slides she romped on. Dianne said the music was great and there were some really unique craft booths. And of couse, lots of food.
The town was trying to set a Guinness record for the most people in white squirrel costumes. The TV crews were there to capture it all. We don’t know yet if the record was broken.
I asked Emilie to bring me back a squirrel sandwich or a “squirrel-on-a-stick”. She said she looked all over the festival but couldn’t find any. Ah, there’s nothing like the sense of supriority that comes from fooling a 9 year old!
